Emergency Road Closure – A6

Work will start on Tuesday 22/02/2011 to stabilise a large boulder (approx 6m x 4m) which is situated some 20m above a vertical rock face adjacent to the A6 Buxton Road Bakewell near to the Fire Station. As a result of these works debris will fall onto the carriageway, which will be protected by timber ply sheets but for the safety of the public, the road will need to be closed for the duration of the works.

Access will be maintained, whenever reasonably possible, on the affected length of road. The road will re-open as soon as the work is finished. This may be earlier than the advertised date of 27/02/2011.

The diversion route (see map below) which will be signed is:-

South Bound Traffic, A6020, A619 & Vice Versa.
North Bound Traffic, A619, B6001, A6020 & Vice Versa.
